About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant waterfront neighborhood of Brooklyn’s Red Hook, Red Hook Lobster Pound is a seafood lover’s sanctuary where freshness meets flavor in every bite. Specializing in succulent Maine and Connecticut lobsters, this cozy yet lively seafood restaurant serves up a memorable taste of the ocean with a distinctly local flair.

From the moment you step inside, you’ll be drawn in by the inviting aroma of butter, garlic, and the sea. The menu is a treasure trove of classic New England seafood delights perfected with modern touches. Don't miss their Oyster Happy Hour, perfect for starting off with a briny, fresh burst of flavor. Signature dishes like the lobster roll come loaded with tender, buttery lobster meat nestled in a perfectly toasted bun, a beloved highlight praised by many diners. The Fish and Chips offer a satisfying crunch and flaky, moist fish that transports you straight to a coastal fishing village. For the adventurous palate, the Fried Oysters Rockefeller and Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Lobster Caramel Sauce deliver bold, innovative flavors that spark excitement and delight with every bite.

The restaurant’s Lobster Mac & Cheese is a creamy, indulgent masterpiece that Adriana De Pitkin fondly calls her absolute favorite—each forkful bursting with rich, cheesy goodness perfectly balanced by chunks of sweet lobster. Equally noteworthy are comfort classics like Lobster Bisque, creamy and fragrant with just the right touch of spice, and the indulgent Hot Crab Dip, a dish that guests rave about despite some mixed reviews on seasoning, proving how high expectations are here for every dish served.

Beyond the food, the ambiance at Red Hook Lobster Pound shines just as brightly. With ample indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the bustling Red Hook streets, it offers a casual yet vibrant setting that’s perfect for everything from a laid-back lunch to a lively dinner with friends. The staff are consistently described as friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to enhance your dining experience, adding a warm, personalized touch that makes this spot feel like a neighborhood gem.

To complement your meal, the restaurant offers a thoughtfully curated selection of beverages. Try their unique Maine Root Organic Sodas in Blueberry or Root Beer for a refreshing, artisanal twist on classic soda flavors. Or savor a Lobster Claw Bloody Mary, perfectly spiced and garnished, which pairs beautifully with their hearty seafood dishes. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, homemade lemonade and iced tea provide a crisp, refreshing balance to the richness on your plate.

Red Hook Lobster Pound is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of seafood done right—combining freshness, quality, and passion into every dish. Whether you’re craving the quintessential lobster roll, a hearty New England chowder, or an inventive seafood boil, this is a place where flavors dance on your palate and each visit feels like a true culinary treat. Love the food! Everything here is so fresh and delicious. The Lobster Mac & Cheese is my absolute favorite, but the Lobster Roll, Fish & Chips are all tasty and S’mores is delicious! The atmosphere is great, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is super friendly and helpful, making the dining experience even better. If you’re in the area, you won’t regret stopping by!

Delicious lobsters and appetizers. We had the Maine lobster and Connecticut lobster roll. It was delicious. I’d recommend getting the lime ranch on the side as a dip. Loved the calamari too. It’s a little pricey, but I think it’s worth it.

My mother and I came here recently craving some good seafood, and we were absolutely blown away by what we found. The seafood was incredibly fresh, bursting with flavor, and perfectly seasoned. Every dish came in generous portions, and the shareable plates were ideal for two. I ordered the New England Seafood Boil and devoured every bite — it was that good. The staff treated us so warmly, and the atmosphere was giving total summer vibes, especially with a cocktail in hand. Truly a 10/10 experience — I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu! For more delicious finds like this, make sure to follow @blaze_eatsnyc for the best eats around NYC!

Red Hook Lobster Pound has some real highlights and a few misses, but I’d definitely go back. The lobster roll was a win—meaty, flavorful, and perfectly toasted. One of the better ones I’ve had in NYC. The drink I had alongside it was super refreshing and really hit the spot. I also tried the crab dip, which I was excited for, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It was seasoned well and tasted good with the chips, but the actual crab flavor was barely there. It felt like it was drowned in the creamy mix, and the crab just disappeared in it. The seafood boil with crab legs and corn looked great but unfortunately had no seasoning—completely bland, with zero flavor. Wouldn’t order that again. Still, the vibe was good, and the lobster roll alone makes it worth a visit. I’d go back and try more of the menu—just steering clear of the boil next time.

Absolutely delicious! I ordered the CT roll and it was incredible — fresh, buttery, and packed with flavor. The lobster was perfectly cooked and the portion was generous. On top of that, the service was smacking — super friendly, quick, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back!
